Easy Learn Guitar
The easy way to learn to play guitar
How To Play Acoustic Guitar
You want to learn how to play acoustic guitar, yet an acoustic guitar can often seem like the poor cousin of the flash and glitzy Electric Guitar.
But that would be a mistaken point of view as it is harder to play, yet it offers much and is well worth learning.
Relying on it's hollow body to produce rich tone and volume, the acoustic guitar can produce sounds that cannot be matched by an Electric Guitar so there is no need for amplifiers or an electrical supply.
Here are some things to look out for when you're looking for an acoustic guitar to buy.
If you're looking for a new or second hand Acoustic make sure you check the gap between the strings and the last fret (nearest the body of the guitar).
The strings should be as close as possible to the fret without actually touching it or causing the strings to "buzz" when strummed.
The higher the strings from the fret the more strength is needed by the fingers causing pain and soreness.
Hold the guitar like a rifle, look along it's neck to see that the neck is straight and true. If the tension of the strings is causing the neck to pull inwards this will increase the gap between string and fret. The further along the string you go the greater the gap. Expensive or inexpensive, do not by an acoustic guitar with this problem. I've known acquaintances who have been put of learning how to play guitar for life due to this problem.
Now you need to learn some Chords.
Chords are the very foundation of playing guitar and with practice and patients are not difficult to learn but the main thing here is to practice practice practice.
The main chords.
There are certain chords that most songs or arrangements contain and learning these will enable you to play many well known tunes.
C Major - C Minor - D Major - D Minor - E Major - E Minor - F Major - F Minor
G Major - G Minor - A Major - A Minor - Bb Major - Bb Minor - B Major
B Minor
The above examples are the main chords but there are many more of course. If you search on Google for Guitar Chord Tabs you will find the finger positions that will help you to learn them. Practice them for at least an half an hour a day untill you can change between chords in a fluid easy manner.
Your first hurdle will be painful fingers. When you practice your playing every single day, however, you will build hard skin that makes playing guitar completely painless. Do be aware however, if you don't play for a while, you will lose those callouses and get sore again when you pick your guitar back up.
When you've learned the main chord set, find a band or other musicians that you can play with on a regular basis. Jamming with others forces you to improve as a guitar player and is a way of picking up valuable guitar instructions. On the other hand, if you learn how to play acoustic guitar alone, you will develop your own special style. Whichever is right for you practice playing your acoustic guitar and have fun.
